‘Black Adam’: Marwan Kenzari Reportedly Eyed To Play Sabbac

A new report claims that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam may have found its villain. According to The Illuminerdi, Marwan Kenzari is being eyed to play Sabbac in the upcoming DCEU film.
Created by Judd Winick and Tom Raney, Sabbac first appeared in 2004’s Outsiders #8. Ishmael Gregor was a Russian mod boss who gained the powers of a demon similar to that of Shazam. He transforms by speaking the word “Sabbac,” an acronym for Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Crataeis.

According to the report, a casting call is looking for a male actor in his 40s to play a villain named Ishmael. Additionally, the studio is not worried about the character maintaining his Russian heritage. This version will be the descendant of a murdered Pharaoh attempting to harness the powers of the crown of Sabbac.
How Sabbac will play into the film’s plot is currently unknown, but with an already stacked roster of characters, including Black Adam and the Justice Society of America, it will be interesting to see where he fits in.
Over the last few months, speculation on what heroes Black Adam will depict has made the rounds. Among them, the introduction of Cyclone and Doctor Fate stands out as particularly exciting. Additionally, Noah Centineo joined the cast as Atom Smasher, and the aforementioned Aldis Hodge will portray Hawkman.
