Randall Park & Daniel Dae Kim To Team Up For Untitled Heist Film From Amazon Studios

Following their collaboration in the Netflix romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe, Randall Park and Daniel Dae Kim are working together again. However, as first reported by Deadline, the two multitalented actors will team-up to pull off a heist in a currently-untitled Asian-American lead feature from Amazon Studios.

The upcoming film will feature a script penned by screenwriter Young Il Kim. Perhaps best known for his work on the hit Showtime series Billions, he also developed the script for Hulu’s upcoming Hillary Clinton series Rodham. While the film’s details are scarce at this time, the initial report claims it will focus on a reunion between high school friends and pay tribute to classic, fun ensemble heist films. Additionally, Kim, Park, and John Cheng (Horrible Bosses 2) will serve as producers on the project as well.

In a statement to Deadline, Kim details the inspiration for his work on the script.

“I think it has nods to Ocean’s 11, The Full Monty as well as Better Luck Tomorrow,” Kim said. “It’s a story that kind of highlights community, friendship, unity in a very familiar genre that people I think will enjoy. We love heist movies. “We want to be inclusive and we feel like there’s a story here to be told. It’s super exciting. Randall and I have wanted to do something together for a while. This is just a great reason to bring together talented actors who have been friends for a really long time and really have fun on a project that, with any luck, will be able to make an impact.”

Up next for Randall Park is a reprise of his MCU role as Agent Woo in the upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision. Additionally, the actor will appear with Community star Ken Jeong in director John Lee’s The Flamingo ThiefMoreover, Daniel Dae Kim currently lends his voice to Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power series. The actor also touts a recurring role in NBC’s New Amsterdam and will star in Joe Penna’s Stowaway with Anna Kendrick.
