‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Star Ronny Chieng Joins The Cast Of ‘Shang Chi’

Amidst the worldwide CO-VID 19 pandemic, productions for a bevy of Marvel Studios projects have been halted. Last week, the new MCU Phase 4 film slate revealed that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will release on May 7, 2021. As first reported by Discussing Film, comedian Ronny Chieng is now among the cast’s ranks.
Best known for his turn in 2018’s Crazy Rich Asians, Chieng is quickly bolstering his acting résumé. Additionally, the actor serves as a senior correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Moreover, Chieng co-wrote and starred in the pilot of a sitcom called Ronny Chieng: International Student and released his own Netflix stand-up special titled Ronny Chieng: Asian Comedian Destroys America!

The initial report does not specify which role Chieng will play. However, he joins the impressive ensemble including Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh.
Shang Chi will serve as one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects. With filming taking place largely on location, the film will reportedly feature the likes of Fin Fang Foom and various MI-6 comic characters.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings will be in theaters on May 7, 2021.
The film stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung as the Mandarin and Awkwafina in an undisclosed role.
