‘Shang-Chi’ Rumored To Introduce MI-6 Comic Characters

As filming is reportedly underway for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, new details about the film have surfaced. According to Charles Murphy, the film will introduce several MI-6 characters, including Leiko Wu, Clive Reston and Black Jack Tarr.
MI-6 has played a significant role in Shang-Chi’s corner of the Marvel universe, having appeared in the Master of Kung Fu comics. After Shang-Chi defected from his father, Fu Manchu, the hero worked alongside the group including agents Leiko Wu, Clive Reston and Black Jack Tarr.
Murphy has revealed that the film will introduce the idea that Shang-Chi worked for MI-6 in the past but has since “departed from the world”. Black Jack Tarr is described as an “elite martial artist who enjoys the thrill of the battle.” While Reston is an old friend who has married Wu, an elite agent who once had feelings for Shang-Chi, in the comics, Leiko Wu and the Master of Kung Fu had a romantic relationship, so it seems the film will adapt this aspect of his past.

Rumors claim that Marvel has already cast each of these roles after searching for a Caucasian male, 45-50 for Reston; a Chinese female, 26-39 for Wu; a Caucasian male 30-49 for Tarr. Currently, no casting is public, but hopefully, with production underway, Marvel will reveal who has signed onto these roles.
