Rick Moranis In Talks To Appear In Disney’s ’Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ Reboot

Last summer, reports that Disney was working on a reboot of the classic 1989 film Honey, I Shrunk The Kids surfaced. While details were scarce, Josh Gad was confirmed to be involved in the project. However, as first reported by The DisInsider, Disney may bring the original film’s star Rick Moranis out of retirement for the reboot.
Moranis took a hiatus from acting in 1997. Unfortunately, the actor became a single father following the sudden death of his wife in 1991. He revealed that working while raising his children became too difficult. However, the Ghostbusters star might make his big comeback with Disney.

The reboot, Shrunk, will take place 30 years after the events of the first film. It will tell the tale of Nick Szalinski, played by the aforementioned Gad, who also shrinks his children in the midst of an accidental experiment. Moranis will reportedly reprise his role as Wayne Szalinski.
This is not the only reboot or remake of a Moranis film currently in the works. Last week, Full Circle reported that Rocketman actor Taron Egerton would play Seymour in a remake of Little Shop of Horrors. Additionally, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Bill Murray will reprise their roles in the upcoming Ghostbusters 2020 reboot.
The reboot film will begin production this spring in Toronto. Additionally, the film will reportedly receive a full theatrical release and not stream exclusively on Disney+.
