Bill Murray Confirmed To Return For ‘Ghostbusters 2020’

Ready for a very obvious opener? Who ya gonna call?? Bill Murray! That’s right, Murray will be returning as Dr. Venkman for the upcoming Ghostbusters 2020, an original cast member revealed on The Greg Hill Show.

Since the new installment in the franchise was announced, fans of the series were wondering if series star Bill Murray would return to his iconic role. Murray has remained hesitant about returning since Ghostbusters 2. But now, thanks to original writer and star, Dan Aykroyd, there is confirmation of Murray’s return in the upcoming sequel.

In the first two Ghostbuster movies, Murray played the lovable loser Dr. Peter Venkman. Venkman has been a known entity in pop culture for years and became an instant fan-favorite. Murray’s continuous remarks about not wanting to return has discouraged fans for years. The actor did show a rejuvenated interest in the franchise when he made a quick cameo in the 2016 reboot, Ghostbusters: Answer The Call.

It’s still unclear how much screen time he will have in the sequel as it’s set to star a younger team of Ghostbusters. Along with Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts have all been confirmed as returning. Unfortunately, Harold Ramis passed away in 2014 but it’s been promised his presence will be felt.

  1. I’m just glad we’re getting one with original actors and to get our minds off that God awful, pos, movie which I consider to be a stand alone film with a similar title and not in any way related to the Ghostbusters what so ever. Can’t wait for the release.

  2. Does anybody except the cast and director want the reboot to continue? No.

    1. I gave the reboot a chance. It sucked. So glad they’re not going that route and going back to the original.

They tried something and it didn’t work. Here’s hoping this does.

  3. Ghostly in San Diego Avatar
    Ghostly in San Diego

It would also be amazing if they could somehow get Rick Moranis to return to his roll. But the chances of this are slim to none.

  4. Instead of the horrible reboot that we got. If they actually wanted to do a all female cast it should have been a continuation. That their daughters pick up the mantle and take over when their fathers retired or passed away. Plus it needed a much better script and cast

  5. I alway’s wanted them to makeGHOST BUSTERS EVOLUTION,a cross over movie that coulday somehow merge those tof movies.

  6. My spelling was messed up sorry

  7. It would be great if Rick Moranis Could be convinced to do this film.
