‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Director Taika Waititi In Talks To Join The Cast Of ‘The Suicide Squad’

James Gunn’s soft-reboot of the Suicide Squad franchise just got even better. As first reported by Deadline, actor & director Taika Waititi is in talks to join the cast.
Waititi, perhaps best known for helming Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, has become highly sought after. His film Jojo Rabbit will open in October. He was recently announced to write and direct Thor: Love and Thunder. Additionally, he will have a recurring role on the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and a starring role in Free Guy.
The Suicide Squad, written and directed by James Gunn, has already assembled quite the ensemble cast. Waititi would join Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman as well as new castmembers Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, John Cena, and Steve Agee.
Waititi’s unique brand of charm and wit will pair nicely with Gunn’s script. The two directors have built a camaraderie during their collaboration on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
