Chris Hemsworth & Pedro Pascal To Team Up For Feature Adaptation Of Don Winslow’s ‘Crime 101’
Two of the most sought-after action stars of the modern era are looking to join forces for an equally sought-after venture. As first reported by Deadline, Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal are booked to star in an adaptation of acclaimed author Don Winslow’s novella Crime 101.
Bart Layton (The Imposter) is already on board to direct the feature with Eric Fellner (Bridget Jones Diary) and Tim Bevan (Frost/Nixon) executive producing through their Working Title production banner. However, the film has yet to find a distribution home. Per the initial report, both Amazon and Netflix have been in a hotly contested bidding war for the rights with Amazon appearing to be in the lead. However, there are currently no deals in place for the film to begin production any time soon due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes due to overwhelming unfair treatment from the AMPTP.
Crime 101 follows Detective Lou Lubesnick as he sniffs out leads in an ongoing investigation into a string of high-level jewel heists up and down the Pacific Coast Highway. While police attribute the thefts to the Colombian cartels, Lubesnick believes the crimes to be the work of just one man.
Chris Hemsworth most recently reprised his MCU role of Thor in Taika Waititi’s critically panned Thor: Love and Thunder and led the sequel to his Netflix film Extraction. Up next, the Australian actor will star alongside Emmy nominee Anya Taylor-Joy in George Miller’s highly anticipated Furiosa. Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal recently earned himself a bevy of nominations for his remarkable work as Joel Miller in HBO’s The Last of Us series adaptation. Up next, the actor has a full slate of projects in the works including roles in Strange Way of Life, Drive-Away Dolls, and Gladiator 2.
