Daisy Ridley To Star In Martin Campbell’s Action-Thriller ‘Cleaner’

Director Martin Campbell is no stranger to high-octane action-thrillers given his track record with Casino Royale and The Protégé. Now the filmmaker is looking to jump back into the genre with a new film starring Daisy Ridley titled Cleaner, according to Deadline.
Per the initial report, Ridley will star in the film set in present-day London at The Shard, the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe. The plot will follow a group of radical activists’ hostile takeover of an energy company’s annual gala and the holding of 300 people hostage. Just as they are ready to kill everyone in the tower to prove their point, Joey Locke (Ridley), an ex-soldier-turned-window-cleaner suspended 90 stories up the building, jumps into action to save the day.

In a statement, Campbell expresses his excitement over the movie.
“Cleaner is a nail-biting thriller, unique and original in both its characters and its setting. Much of the film takes place on the side of the Shard – hundreds of feet up in the air – and I want the audience to be up there with Joey in a stomach-churning, vertiginous experience. There isn’t a more instinctive and powerful actress than Daisy right now to help us do just that. The majority of my movies have been thrillers and Cleaner is one of the best I’ve ever read.”
Ever since her breakout role as Rey in the Star Wars sequels, Daisy Ridley is a household name. In fact, the actress is confirmed to return to the galaxy far, far away in a new film in the works at LucasFilm. Additionally, the actress also has a bevy of big-screen starring roles coming out this year including The Marsh King’s Daughter and Young Woman and the Sea.
