John Boyega Rumored To Join Daisy Ridley In Upcoming Star Wars Movie

When the most recent Star Wars Celebration opened its doors in London, few fans of the franchise could have guessed that Daisy Ridley would walk across the stage as her return as Rey Skywalker for a future film was announced. Now, a new rumor from John Rocha via The Hot Mic podcast suggests Ridley is not the only one from the sequel trilogy returning. Per the insider, John Boyega’s Finn is making his way back to the galaxy far, far away as well.
Along with Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, Boyega and Ridley were the major players in the sequel trilogy. The actor portrayed a former Stormtrooper turned Resistance General in all three films. Moreover, Finn hinted at being Force-sensitive within the films and the character can be seen training alongside Rey in the most recent Star Wars LEGO specials on Disney+. As of now, take this rumor with a grain of salt until anything is confirmed by either Lucasfilm or Boyega himself.

Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), the currently untitled Star Wars movie will be set about 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. The film will see Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker as she works diligently to restore the Jedi Order. Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) recently replaced Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson as the film’s screenwriter.
Following his breakout role as Finn in the Star Wars universe, John Boyega joined Viola Davis and Lashana Lynch in The Woman King and delivered a standout dramatic role in Breaking. The actor also won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Amazon’s Small Axe. Up next, Boyega will star alongside Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris in Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone.
