Andy Samberg & Jean Smart To Star In Craig Gillespie’s ‘42.6’ For Amazon

Following years and years of entertaining the masses on hit shows like Saturday Night Live and Brooklyn 99, Andy Samberg is next looking to team with an absolute legend for this latest film. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Samberg will star alongside Jean Smart in a new comedy in the works titled 42.6.
Per the initial report, Cruella and I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie is already on board to helm the feature. Notably, Samberg came up with the film’s premise and went on to co-write the script alongside Seth Reiss (The Menu). Samberg will also serve as the film’s executive producer via his Party Over Here banner with Amazon Studios handling financing and distribution.

42.6 follows a young man (Samberg) who makes the tough choice to take part in an experimental procedure that leaves him cryogenically frozen for 42.6 years. When he wakes up physically unchanged, he finds himself lonely with no one to turn to except his ex-girlfriend, who is now much older (Smart).
Andy Samberg recently lead the voice cast of the critically acclaimed Disney+ film Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers alongside John Mulaney. Additionally, the actor will next join Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, and Alexander Skarsgård in the upcoming biographical drama Lee. Meanwhile, Jean Smart is a frequent winner of a host of awards in recent years thanks to her groundbreaking role in the HBO Max series Hacks. Additionally, the 50-year veteran touts memorable roles in projects like Babylon and HBO’s Watchmen as well.
