‘Watchmen’ & ‘Doom Patrol’ Writers Helming Amanda Waller Show

During James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC slate offered further information about the previously announced Amanda Waller series for HBO Max. Waller will star Viola Davis as the titular character and will take place between seasons 1 and 2 of Peacemaker.
Christal Henry is writing the series along with Jeremy Carver. Henry is best known for her work on the HBO limited series Watchmen. Carver meanwhile developed the Doom Patrol series for HBO Max. Davis is set to executive produce the series along with James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The series will serve as a direct follow-up to Peacemaker season 1. Additionally, it will feature some returning cast from the hit John Cena series. Given the show will take place prior to the second season, it seems likely it could introduce some story elements for it.
It will be interesting to see what the show does with Amanda Waller at the forefront of the story. Until now, she has served in only an antagonistic role, but this will offer some new insight into the character.
