‘The Bear’ Star Ayo Edebiri Joins The MCU With A Secret Role In ‘Thunderbolts’

One of the biggest hits of the last calendar year has been Hulu’s The Bear. With Jeremy Allen White earning a bevy of award nominations and wins, another breakout star is taking advantage of the success of the series. As first reported by Deadline, Ayo Edebiri will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a role in the upcoming film Thunderbolts.
Edebiri joins Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko who will all reprise their roles from previous MCU projects. Not much is known about the film so far. However, in the comics, the Thunderbolts are a group of villains who are sent on secret missions by the government, not unlike DC’s Suicide Squad.

Jake Schreier is on-board to direct the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. Additionally, the film’s screenplay hails from Black Widow scribe Eric Pearson. As always, Marvel COO Kevin Feige will executive produce and oversee the production of the film.
Ayo Edebiri’s breakout role in The Bear is far from the first project in which the actress was able to shine. The multihyphenate touts memorable roles in hit TV shows like Dickinson and Big Mouth. Moreover, Edebiri’s big screen credits include Netflix’s Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between and the indie drama How It Ends. Up next, Edebiri will star alongside Ben Platt in Molly Gordon’s Theater Camp.
