Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, & Pete Davidson To Star In ‘Dumb Money’

When a group of private investors and internet trolls took down one of the biggest hedge funds on Wall Street by making the stock price of Gamestop rise, the world stood up and paid attention. Now, the story lives on within the pages of Ben Mezrich’s The Antisocial Network. With the story only happening recently, Hollywood is already staking their claim in retelling it. As first reported by Deadline, an adaptation of the book is beginning production soon with a star-studded cast appearing on the call sheet.
Per the initial report, the film, titled Dumb Money, will star Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, and Pete Davidson. Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) is directing the film with an adapted screenplay by Rebecca Angelo (Orange Is the New Black) & Blumhouse Productions co-founder Lauren Schuker Blum. Black Bear Pictures will produce the feature after acquiring the rights to Mezrich’s book from MGM earlier this year.

In a statement, Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman, the film’s executive producer, expresses his excitement to have assembled such a quality team of talent.
“Lauren & Rebecca have masterfully adapted Ben Mezrich’s exceptional book, detailing one of the greatest underdog stories of our time. Craig Gillespie is a tremendous leader with exceptional vision and has assembled a tremendous ensemble. We’re honored to partner with him, Aaron Ryder, and this terrific team in front and behind the camera to bring Dumb Money to audiences everywhere,” he says.
Paul Dano recently wowed worldwide audiences as The Riddler alongside Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Up next, the actor will star opposite Michelle Williams in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans. Moreover, Dumb Money will reunite Seth Rogen and Sebastian Stan after they both starred in the hit Hulu series Pam & Tommy. Up next for Rogen is voicing Donkey Kong in the upcoming animated Mario movie while Stan will star in A24’s Sharper on Apple TV+. Finally, Pete Davidson made his final appearance as a cast member of Saturday Night Live this past spring. Up next for the comedian is a starring role in the upcoming Peacock original film Meet Cute.
