Jenna Ortega Joins Martin Freeman In ‘Miller’s Girl’ For Lionsgate

One of the fastest-rising stars in Hollywood today is joining forces with a proven commodity in an exciting new feature in the works at Lionsgate. As first reported by Deadline, Jenna Ortega will star alongside Martin Freeman in a new film titled Miller’s Girl.
Per the initial report, the film hails from writer-director Jade Halley Bartlett, who makes her directorial debut. Point Grey Pictures will produce the feature after being attached to the project since it ranked on the 2016 Black List. Josh Fagen (Good Boys) and Mary-Margaret Kunze (The Thing About Pam) are on board as executive producers.

Miller’s Girl follows a tumultuous and complex relationship between a teacher (Freeman) and his talented student (Ortega) following the results of a creative writing assignment. In a statement, President of Production for Lionsgate Erin Westerman expresses her excitement to tell the unique story.
“While we are excited for the movie to speak for itself, the level of talent assembled for this special film is a testament to Jade, whose screenplay lures you in with her dazzling voice. And then eats you alive.”
Jenna Ortega is setting herself up to be one of the new faces of modern Hollywood. Most recently, the former star of Disney Channel’s Stuck in the Middle appeared in the horror films Studio 666, X, and Scream. Up next, Ortega will star in the highly anticipated The Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday for Netflix.
