Christina Ricci Joins The Cast Of Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ Series

Jenna Ortega is one of the fastest rising young stars in Hollywood right now thanks to a memorable string of performances in films like Scream and X. Up next, Ortega will lead the cast of Netflix’s upcoming Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday. As first reported by Deadline, Ortega will be joined by Christina Ricci in the upcoming series.
Per the initial report, Ricci will not be playing an older version of Wednesday Addams, a role she embodies in 1991’s The Addams Family and its 1993 sequel. However, Ricci’s role will reportedly be vital to the show’s plot. She will reportedly step into a role similar to the one originally played by Thora Birch, who recently exited the project. Additionally, Ricci’s role is recurring throughout the series so expect more than a fun cameo appearance. Regardless, seeing Ricci return to the Addams Family franchise is an exciting surprise for longtime fans.

Wednesday hails from legendary filmmaker Tim Burton, who will direct the eight-episode first season. The series will be a coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy focusing on Wednesday Addams. As she navigates her years as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, she also attempts to master her psychic abilities. Ortega and Ricci are joined by Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwendoline Christie, Luis Guzmán, and Danny DeVito in the ensemble cast.
Christina Ricci recently appeared alongside Keanu Reeves in last year’s The Matrix Resurrections. Her other recent roles include appearances in Rick and Morty, Percy, and a starring role in Yellowjackets. Up next, Ricci will star in Colleen Camp in the supernatural thriller Monstrous.
