Catherine Zeta-Jones Joins The Cast Of ‘National Treasure’ Disney+ Series

National Treasure is assuredly a film franchise beloved by moviegoers all over the world. Disney+ seeks to capitalize on that love with its own upcoming spinoff series. Now, as first reported by Deadline, movie legend Catherine Zeta-Jones is on-board to star in the spinoff series.
Zeta-Jones joins Lisette Alexis (We Need to Do Something About Amy) as the show’s co-lead. Also starring in the series are Zuri Reed (Killer Among Us), Jordan Rodrigues (The Fosters). Moreover, Antonio Cipriano (Jagged Little Pill), Jake Austin Walker (Stargirl), and Lyndon Smith (Parenthood) round out the ensemble cast. Additionally, Mira Nair (Queen of Katwe)will direct the series with the executive producer of the National Treasure films Jerry Bruckheimer returning in the same capacity.

Per the initial report, the National Treasure series is a continuation of the events in the film, similar to Disney+’s now-canceled spinoff series Turner & Hooch. The plot follows Jess, portrayed by Lisette Alexis, a brilliantly resourceful DREAMer. However, after making the choice to embark on her life’s greatest adventure, Jess seeks to uncover the truth of her family history and discover a lost Pan-American treasure.
Catherine Zeta-Jones touts an impressive career receiving an Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Tony Award, and three Screen Actors Guild awards along the way. Most recently, The Mask of Zorro star appeared in the main cast of the Fox TV series Prodigal Son. Next, the multi-talented actress will portray Morticia Addams in Netflix’s highly anticipated Addams Family series Wednesday.
