The onslaught of projects set within the Star Wars universe has left fans getting more and more excited every day. One of the most exciting projects that is seemingly picking up steam on a daily basis is the Disney+ series Acolyte. As first reported by Variety, Manny Jacinto is the latest star to join the evergrowing cast of the anticipated series.
Jacinto joins another recent addition to the cast Jodie Turner-Smith. They both join the previously cast lead of the series Amandla Stenberg in the show’s cast. Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland serves as the project’s writer and showrunner. Details surrounding the series and both Stenberg and Turner-Smith’s characters are currently tightly kept secret.
Several reports about the series reveal that the project is setting itself apart from its predecessors by being set during the late High Republic era. Additionally, in mid-2021, it was reported that the series would consist of eight episodes. In May 2022, Headland told Vanity Fair that the series would be a mystery thriller set about 100 years before The Phantom Menace and that the writing was almost complete.
Manny Jacinto’s breakout role came starring as the hilarious Jason Mendoza on the NBC sitcom The Good Place. Since the show’s conclusion, Jacinto can be seen in various TV shows like Nine Perfect Strangers and in films like Top Gun: Maverick. Up next, the actor will voice Kenshi in the upcoming animated film Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind.
