The upcoming slate of Star Wars projects in the works is staggering. With projects like Ahsoka well into production at this point, eyes look even further into the future. As first reported by Deadline, Queen & Slim star Jodie Turner-Smith is finalizing a deal to travel to a galaxy far, far away in the highly anticipated series Acolyte.
Turner-Smith joins the previously announced Amandla Stenberg in the show’s cast. Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland serves as the project’s writer and showrunner. Details surrounding the series and both Stenberg and Turner-Smith’s characters are currently tightly kept secret.
Several reports about the series reveal that the project is setting itself apart from its predecessors by being set during the late High Republic era. Additionally, in mid-2021, it was reported that the series would consist of eight episodes. In May 2022, Headland told Vanity Fair that the series would be a mystery thriller set about 100 years before The Phantom Menace and that the writing was almost complete.
Following a groundbreaking performance alongside Daniel Kaluuya in Queen & Slim, Jodie Turner-Smith recently appeared alongside Michael B. Jordan in the adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse. Up next, she leads the cast for Netflix’s upcoming The Witcher prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin. Moreover, the multitalented actress will star opposite Adam Driver in Noah Baumbach’s White Noise.
