Christian Slater To Play Dr. Dorian Brauer/Mulgarath In ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’ For Disney+

In late 2021, it was revealed that a live-action TV series based on the beloved series of children’s books The Spiderwick Chronicles is in the works over at Disney+. Now, as first reported by Deadline, the series is beginning to take its biggest casting strides toward production with Christian Slater joining in a key role.
Per the initial report, Slater will play Mulgarath AKA Dr. Dorian Brauer in the series. Created by the books’ original authors Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, Mulgarath is an evil, gigantic ogre whose goal throughout the series is to steal Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to become more powerful.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Marry Me director Kat Coiro will be at the helm for the first two episodes of the series, which is described as a modern coming-of-age story mixed with a big-time fantasy adventure. Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television will joint produce the series with Disney+ serving as its landing place for distribution. Finally, Aron Eli Coleite (Star Trek: Discovery) will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Christian Slater earned the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor thanks to his role in USA’s Mr. Robot. Moreover, the actor touts memorable roles in hit films like Heathers and TV shows like The West Wing. Most recently, Slater starred alongside Pedro Pascal and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in Robert Rodriguez’s We Can Be Heroes. Up next, Slater will star in Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut Pussy Island.
