Jennifer Lopez continues to make headlines in both her personal and professional life. After crushing the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show and earning critical praise for films like Hustlers and Marry Me, the multi-talented performer will next star in Netflix’s Atlas. Now, as first reported by Deadline, Lopez will be joined by MCU alums Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown in the cast.
Per the initial report, Simu Liu will play the antagonist in the feature. Additionally, Sterling K. Brown and Morbius star Abraham Popoola will play key roles in the film as well. The film’s plot follows a woman named Atlas, portrayed by Lopez. Atlas fights for the future of humanity against the ruthless onslaught of AI soldiers who have decided that the way to end war is to end all human life.
Star Trek: Discovery writer Aron Eli Coleite is penning the script with Obi-Wan Kenobi scribe Joby Harold on board to executive produce. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will produce via their Berlanti/Schechter Films banner with Netflix handling distribution.
Simu Liu is having a breakout moment in Hollywood following his starring role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Up next, the actor will appear in the all-star ensemble cast of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie as well as the One True Loves adaptation along with Phillippa Soo. Meanwhile, Sterling K. Brown is no stranger to the MCU thanks to his role in 2018’s Black Panther. Up next for the Emmy and Golden Globe winner is a starring role opposite Regina Hall in Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul.
