The amount of Star Wars content on its way to the Disney+ streaming service is staggering. After The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi bringing new stories to the Star Wars canon, Disney and LucasFilm are showing no signs of slowing down. Now, a new rumor suggests that a popular character from the gaming side of the franchise is heading to Disney+. According to The Kristian Harloff Channel, Cameron Monaghan just might reprise his character, Cal Kestis, from the wildly popular Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for a new Disney+ series.
According to Harloff’s sources, Cameron Monaghan has already signed the dotted line to bring his character to the live-action medium. However, no further details were available. As always, rumors such as these should be taken with a grain of salt until otherwise confirmed by Disney/LucasFilm.
Releasing in November 2019, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes place five years after Revenge of the Sith. The story follows Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, who becomes a target of the Galactic Empire. The Imperial Inquisitorius hunt Kestis and his trusty droid BD-1 throughout the galaxy as he attempts to complete his training and rebuild the Jedi Order. The game is the fastest-selling digital launch for any Star Wars game. A sequel, titled Jedi: Survivor, is in the works for a 2023 release.
Cameron Monaghan is perhaps best known for his role as Ian Gallagher in the hit Showtime series Shameless. Notably, the actor portrays twins Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska, who serve as origins for the Joker, on the DC TV series Gotham. Monaghan also stars alongside Frank Grillo and John Malkovich in the thriller Shattered. Moreover, Monaghan also continues his working relationship with DC by voicing Superboy in the Reign of the Supermen animated film.
