‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Toy Suggests The Guardians Have A Large Role

Recently a number of Marvel Legends for Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder were revealed. Among them was a Star-Lord figure which showcased the character’s new look. But now, an official description for the figure has been released, teasing that the Guardians of the Galaxy will have a significant role in the movie.

It had been speculated that the Guardians would have a small part in the film, given this is a Thor movie, but it seems that they may actually be involved in the conflict with the movie’s antagonist Gorr the God Butcher. The back of the figure’s box states, “Peter Quill and the Guardians of the Galaxy return, teaming up with friends new and old to defend the galaxy from a dangerous new enemy.” This description would suggest that the Guardians will be working with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor to take on Christian Bale’s Gorr.

In addition to the description, the box art also offers a glimpse at Star-Lord’s new look. As can be seen above, Star-Lord has grown his beard out, and his jacket now sports armored plating over the arms.

The fourth film in the Thor franchise sees the return of Portman as Jane Foster. Additionally, Taika Waititi confirmed the actress will also take on Thor’s mantle within the events of the film at 2020’s San Diego Comic-Con. Hemsworth will return as the Son of Odin alongside Ford v. Ferrari star Bale, who will play Gorr the God Butcher in the film. Moreover, the film will feature the Guardians of the Galaxy, Korg, and Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif.
