Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’ Hires Directors; Ryan Coogler To Produce Series

A highly anticipated new Marvel series Ironheart has found its directors in Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. The series revolves around Riri Williams and her suit of armor akin to Iron Man.
Ironheart will go into production later this year. Along with the directors, it’s been announced that Black Panther writer/director Ryan Coogler will be producing under his production company, Proximity. The director is finishing up with his sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where Riri will make her debut.

Ironheart, aka Riri Williams, is a relatively newer character, first appearing in Invincible Iron Man #7 in 2016. She reverse-engineered Tony Stark’s armor and took on the mantle after he fell into a coma after a fight with Captain Marvel. Eventually, after Tony reclaimed the title of Iron Man, Riri took on the name Ironheart and became a member of the Champions.
The series will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. The series also stars Anthony Ramos and Lyric Ross. Chinaka Hodge has also signed on as the head writer of the series.
