Ironheart, aka Riri Williams, is a relatively newer character, first appearing in Invincible Iron Man #7 in 2016. She reverse-engineered Tony Stark’s armor and took on the mantle after he fell into a coma after a fight with Captain Marvel. Eventually, after Tony reclaimed the title of Iron Man, Riri took on the name Ironheart and became a member of the Champions.
Ross is set to play Williams’ best friend, so she should have a significant role in the series. Besides This is Us, she has also appeared in other shows, including Sirens and Chicago Fire.
Chinaka Hodge has signed on as the head writer of the series. As of now, a premiere date for the show has not been set. However, Thorne’s Riri Williams will make her MCU debut in the highly anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
