Samuel L. Jackson Reveals Don Cheadle Will Appear In ‘Secret Invasion’

With a new era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the horizon, Samuel L. Jackson and Don Cheadle remain as two of the elder statesmen of the franchise. Now, it appears the duo will get the chance to work together again in the future. During an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Jackson revealed that Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes AKA War Machine will appear in the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion.

“You walk on the set, Emilia’s amazing. Ben Mendelsohn, he’s awesome. Don, Don Cheadle,” Jackson sais. “I got Don, that’s my golf buddy. I didn’t realize it, but until we did this thing, I was like, ‘We’ve never worked together.’ We just kinda know each other, hang out and laugh… but we’d never worked together and we finally [got to work together].”

Secret Invasion hails from Mr. Robot creator Kyle Bradstreet with Thomas Bezucha (Monte Carlo) and Ali Selim (Manhunt) attached to direct. The story follows a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the Skrulls. Written by Brian Michael Bendis, the series sees The Avengers teaming with The Fantastic Four and the X-Men, among others, to confront and end the threat of the Skrulls. Cheadle joins a stacked ensemble cast already including Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, and Emilia Clarke. Additionally, Cobie Smulders and MArtin Freeman are expected to reprise their MCU roles in the six-episode series as well.
Don Cheadle last appeared as Tony Stark’s best friend Rhodey in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and will next lead his own Marvel series with Armor Wars. Recently, the actor shared a screen with Benicio del Toro in No Sudden Move and LeBron James in Space Jam: A New Legacy. Up next, the actor will star in Noah Baumbach‘s White Noise alongside Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig.
