With recent hits like Bel-Air and Wolf Like Me making waves, Peacock continues to find its footing in the ongoing streaming wars. Up next, the streaming service has ordered a new series titled The Resort. As first reported by Deadline, the show’s cast will feature two TV mainstays, William Jackson Harper and Cristin Milioti.
The Resort is reportedly a true-crime love story from Andy Siara (Palm Springs) and Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail. High Maintenance star Ben Sinclair will direct and executive produce the series, as well as star alongside Harper and Milioti. The Righteous Gemstones star Skyler Gisondo and Parvesh Cheena (Mythic Quest) will also appear in the series.
Per the initial report, the series is a multi-generational, coming-of-age romance story. However, the series presents itself as a fast-paced, true-crime mystery thriller as a discovery of love throughout time. As a couple (Harper and Milioti) embark on an anniversary vacation, they find themselves wrapped up in one of the Mayan Riviera’s astonishing unsolved mysteries.
William Jackson Harper is perhaps most well-known for his starring role opposite Kristen Bell in NBC’s The Good Place. Since then, the actor appeared in season two of HBO Max’s Love Life and the rom-com We Broke Up, alongside Aya Cash. Up next, the actor will narrate the Marvel audiobook series Black Panther: Sins of the King. Meanwhile, Cristin Milioti is a Tony Award nominee for Best Actress in a Musical for her work in Once. Over the years, the How I Met Your Mother star has starred in films like Palm Springs and the HBO Max series Made for Love. Most recently, Milioti stole the show in the Netflix Mockumentary Death to 2021.
