David Dastmalchain Joins The Cast Of 20th Century Fox’s ‘The Boogeyman’

20th Century Fox’ The Boogeyman already has Chris Messina and Sophie Thatcher on board to star. Now, according to Deadline, The Suicide Squad standout David Dastmalchain will star in the upcoming thriller as well. Additionally, Marin Ireland (Y: The Last Man), Vivien Lyra Blair (We Can Be Heroes), and Madison Hu (Best Friends Whenever) will join the cast as well.
The Boogeyman is based on Stephen King’s 1973 short story with the same title name. The Boogeyman is being filmed in New Orlean, and will premiere sometime in 2023 on Hulu in the U.S. Rob Savage will direct the upcoming adaptation that follows a 16-year-old girl and her younger sister. The two are still grieving their mother’s death. They become the target of The Boogeyman after their father, a psychologist, has an incident with a patient.

There have been several drafts of the script. The Mark Heyman draft is the most recent version of the script. There was also a draft from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, while Akela Cooper had previously drafted a version as well. 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen are producing The Boogeyman. Moreover, Beck, Woods, and Emily Morris will serve as executive producers.
21 Laps has plenty of films coming soon. The Adam Project starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Shawn Levy, and Stranger Things season four for Netflix. They also have the Cheaper by the Dozen remake for Disney+ coming as well. 20th Century Fox has recently released Death on the Nile, West Side Story, and Free Guy. Dastmachalchain recently starred in Dune and The Suicide Squad. Ireland can be seen in The Umbrella Academy while Blair starred in Bird Box, and Hu recently appeared in Voyagers.
