Aaron Pierre Joins Mahershala Ali In Marvel Studios’ ‘Blade’

According to Deadline, Aaron Pierre joins the cast of Marvel’s Blade. The film will star Mahershala Ali as the title character. Delroy Lindo is also a part of the cast in a secret role. Bassam Tariq will direct the film with Watchmen story editor Stacy Osei-Kuffour penning the script. It is unknown what role Pierre will play, but the initial report claims it is a highly coveted role.
Marvel announced their plans for Blade at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. The character was originally portrayed by Wesley Snipes for a trilogy from New Line Cinema in the early 2000s. Blade is a half-human-half vampire hybrid that hunts vampires. He first appeared in the 1973 comic Tomb of Dracula No. 10. Dracula would appear in the third film of the trilogy as an ode to this comic.

Pierre has been an up-and-coming talent in Hollywood for years. He was in M. Night Shyamalan’s Old. He’s also been cast as Mufasa in Disney’s Lion King prequel from Barry Jenkins. He also worked with Jenkins in Amazon’s Underground Railroad series. Notably, Pierre is no stranger to the superhero genre following his starring role in the DC series Krypton.
