‘Secret Invasion’: Cobie Smulders To Reprise Maria Hill Role

Cobie Smulders is set to return to the MCU alongside Samuel L. Jackson in Secret Invasion. According to Deadline, the actress will reprise her role as Maria Hill in the Disney+ series.

Smulders joins the cast alongside Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. Additionally, she will act alongside MCU newcomers Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Christopher McDonald, and Killian Scott.

The series will reportedly run for six episodes on the Disney+ streaming service. Within the pages of Marvel Comics, Secret Invasion is a comic book crossover storyline that ran for a self-titled eight-issue limited series. The story follows a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the Skrulls. Written by Brian Michael Bendis, the series sees The Avengers teaming with The Fantastic Four and the X-Men, among others, to confront and end the threat of the Skrulls. However, in the MCU, the Skrulls are not as conniving as their comic book counterparts. Talos and Soren seemingly have a friendly partnership with Nick Fury. Additionally, a Skrull appears during the season finale of WandaVision to recruit Teyonah Parris‘ Monica Rambeau for an unknown assignment from Fury.
