Leonardo DiCaprio In Final Talks To Star In & Produce MGM’s ‘Jim Jones’

One of the most prolific actors of his time, Leonardo Dicaprio, continues to add to his already stellar track record with a bevy of upcoming projects. However, with film-like Don’t Look Up and an Another Round remake on the way, the actor sets his eyes on a retelling of one of the most controversial tragedies in human history. As first reported by Deadline, DiCaprio is in final talks to star as the psychotic cult leader Jim Jones in an upcoming film from MGM.
DiCaprio will also serve as an executive producer for the movie. Moreover, Venom scribe Scott Rosenberg will write the screenplay as well as produce alongside DiCaprio. MGM snagged the picture in a seven-figure deal and will next look to tap a director to take the helm.

Jim Jones was an American mass murderer and cult leader, who led a new religious organization between 1955 and 1978. Jones orchestrated a mass murder-suicide in his remote jungle commune at Jonestown, Guyana in 1978, claiming the lives of 918 commune members, 304 of them children, by drinking Flavor Aid laced with cyanide.
Leonardo DiCaprio is world-famous for his roles in classic films like Titanic and Django Unchained. Additionally, thanks to his iconic work in The Revenant, Leonardo DiCaprio finally picked up the Oscar for Best Actor a few years ago. Up next, he will star in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Additionally, the legendary actor will star alongside fellow Oscar winner Jennifer Lawerence in Adam McKay’s Netflix comedy Don’t Look Up.
