John David Washington To Star In Gareth Edwards’ ‘True Love’

Following one of the most talked-about starring roles of 2020 in Tenet, John David Washington continues his upward trajectory. As first reported by Deadline, the multitalented actor will next team with Rogue One director Gareth Edwards for a new feature film in the works at New Regency.
The picture will reportedly be titled True Love and is described as a near-future sci-fi story. However, plot details and information surrounding Washington’s character are scarce for the time being. Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards will direct the film after writing the screenplay himself.

New Regency will produce and finance the film. Moreover, former Vice President of Development for Lucasfilm Ltd, Kiri Hart, will serve as the film’s executive producer. Edwards completed work on the True Love script and finally committed to directing shortly before New Regency leaped at the opportunity to collaborate with the director following the box office success of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
John David Washington earned a bevy of high acclaim following an impressive outing in Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, for which he received both Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. The star continues to impress following a leading role in Christopher Nolan’s time travel epic Tenet. Recently, Washington starred alongside Emmy winner Zendaya in the Netflix drama Malcolm & Marie. Additionally, he will once again appear on Netflix will alongside Alicia Vikander in 2021’s Beckett. The actor also recently wrapped filming for David O. Russell’s Canterbury Glass, starring opposite Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, and Chris Rock.
