Jonathan Groff, Mary J. Blige, & Jake Johnson To Star In Netflix’s ‘Ollie’s Odyssey’ Adaptation

A television adaptation of William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg’s children’s book Ollie’s Odyssey, titled Lost Ollie is headed to Netflix. Moreover, the streaming service has enlisted a host of big-name stars for the upcoming series adaptation. As first reported by Deadline, Jonathan Groff, Mary J. Blige, and Jake Johnson are among the cast’s leading stars.
The ensemble will also feature Tim Blake Nelson, Gina Rodriguez, and Kesler Talbot (Nancy Drew) will lend their unique talents in a mix of live-action and voice roles to the series as well. The adaptation will reportedly be a live-action/animation hybrid created, adapted, and executive produced by Shannon Tindle (Kubo and the Two Strings). Tindle is joined by fellow producers Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse), Josh Barry (Dash & Lily), and Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) as well. Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is also on-board to create CGI characters for the project.

The aforementioned Jonathan Groff will portray the titular character Ollie in the series. The story follows a handmade toy rabbit with a loving spirit and a heart of gold. Moreover, the lovable character loves making new friends and has been best friends with Billy for as long as he can remember. However, Ollis winds up sitting on the shelves of a thrift store with no foreseeable way back home. The plot charts Ollie’s long journey home and the litany of toys he meets along the way.
Mary J. Blige will voice a fearless warrior teddy bear named Rosy while Jake Johnson portrays Billy’s overworked and stressed father. Moreover, Tim Blake Nelson plays Zozo, a clown doll who is an old toy with an old soul. Meanwhile, Gina Rodriguez will play Billy’s thoughtful and creative mother. Finally, Kesler Talbot is playing Billy, the young boy with a magical bond with Ollie who sets out on an adventure of his own to discover his friend.
