‘Black Widow’ Star O-T Fagbenle To Portray President Barack Obama In Showtime’s ‘First Lady’ Series

The last few months have been filled with moments that will be remembered forever in the annals of American history. However, the last 243 years since the inception of the United States are filled with moments and historic stories to tell. Showtime is partnering with Lionsgate TV for a new spin on American leadership with an anthology series titled First Lady. As first reported by Deadline, Black Widow star O-T Fagbenle will join the cast as President Barack Obama.
Fagbenle joins the previously cast Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer, who will play Michelle Obama and Betty Ford, respectively. Moreover, The Dark Knight star Aaron Eckhart will portray President Gerald Ford. The series will reportedly provide a new context on the presidencies of Ford, Barack Obama, and Franklin D. Roosevelt through the lens of their wives. The series hails from Aaron Cooley (The Talk), who will also serve as an executive producer. Additionally, Things We Lost in the Fire director Susanne Bier is on-board to helm the series. Moreover, Julius Tennon (Get On Up), Andrew Wang (The Lying Game), Cathy Schulman (Crash), and Brad Kaplan (Mr. Church) will produce the upcoming project as well.

President Obama served as the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. Previously serving as a U.S. senator from Illinois, Obama is the first African-American President. Obama’s time in office highlighted by passing the Affordable Care Act, the nationwide legalization of same-sex marriages, and the death of Osama Bin Laden.
O-T Fagbenle will next make some waves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villain Taskmaster in Black Widow. Additionally, the British actor is known for his acclaimed work in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Fagbenle’s variety of credits also includes roles on TV in Doctor Who and in films like Non-Stop.
