Mena Massoud Rumored To Be In Talks To Portray Live-Action Ezra Bridger

In December, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed a slew of upcoming projects set in the well-established world of Star Wars. With new films from Taika Waititi and Patty Jenkins in the works, the Disney+ streaming service will also play host to a bevy of new shows following the success of The Mandalorian. One of those projects is an Ahsoka Tano-led series starring Rosario Dawson. As first reported by Kessel Run Transmissions, Aladdin star Mena Massoud is rumored to join the series, and the Star Wars universe, as the Jedi Ezra Bridger.
While the initial reporting notes that Massoud has yet to accept, Lucasfilm taps the actor as their first choice to play Ezra. This would be the first time the character will appear in live-action. Additionally, Massoud’s Bridger would debut in Ahsoka. However, it is likely that he will appear in multiple shows across the Disney+ platform as well.

Starring in all 4 seasons of Star Wars Rebels, Ezra Bridger is the Jedi Padawan of Kanan Jarrus. Moreover, throughout the events of the animated series, Bridger is a revolutionary leader in the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Alongside his team of rebels, consisting of Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, Bridger is highly influential in the fight against the Dark Side. Additionally, Ezra encounters iconic Star Wars figures like Leia, Maul, Darth Vader, Saw Gerrera, Lando Calrissian, and Obi-Wan Kenobi along the way. The character last appears on-screen sacrificing himself in the series finale of Star Wars Rebels. However, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren embark on a journey to find Ezra during the final moments of the episode.
Mena Massoud famously portrays Aladdin in Disney’s 2019 live-action remake. Moreover, the actor also stars alongside John Krasinski in the Amazon Prime series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Up next, the multitalented performer will star opposite Austin & Ally alum Laura Marano in Netflix’s The Royal Treatment.
