Pierce Brosnan & Helena Bonham Carter To Star In Romantic Comedy ‘Not Bloody Likely’

The annual American Film Market will begin on November 9th. Every year a bevy of producers and film studios present their projects and seek production and distribution deals. Historically, this event introduces the world to new and exciting films in the works featuring a bevy of new and familiar faces. As first reported by Variety, one of those films is a romantic comedy starring celebrated and well-known thespians Pierce Brosnan and Helena Bonham Carter.
The film, titled Not Bloody Likely, hails from its writer and director Joel Hopkins. A British independent film director and screenwriter, Hopkins’ previous work includes his films Jump Tomorrow and Last Chance Harvey. Per the initial report, the romantic comedy will explore the true story behind the 1914 West End production of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. Famously, this piece of theatre serves as the source material for the Academy Award-winning musical My Fair Lady. The story follows Shaw, played by Brosnan, after penning his masterpiece. However, the playwright is hellbent on getting the great Mrs. Pat Campbell, played by Bonham Carter, cast as Eliza Doolittle. Moreover, Shaw’s true motivations come to light when a past romance between the two exposes itself.

Not Bloody Likely will reunite Hopkins with Brosnan after working together on 2013’s The Love Punch. Adam Rolston (A Street Car Named Bob) and David Braithwaite (Iron Sky) are on-board to produce the film. Additionally, Cornerstone Films is handling worldwide sales rights and will introduce the project at the American Film Market.
Bonham Carter is fresh off riveting turns in Netflix’s The Crown and the Millie Bobby Brown-starring Enola Holmes. Similarly, Brosnan can last be seen in Netflix’s Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga. Up next, the former James Bond will star alongside Camila Cabello, Billy Porter, and Idina Menzel in Sony’s Cinderella.
