‘Pose’ Star Billy Porter Set To Play The Fairy Godmother In Sony’s ‘Cinderella’

Fresh off of his historic win at this year’s Emmy’s ceremony, Broadway star Billy Porter is set to bippidi-boppidi-boop onto the big screen in 2021. As first reported by THR, Porter is set to join the cast of Sony’s Cinderella as the iconic fairy godmother.
Sony has tapped the multi-platinum selling singer Camilla Cabello to play the fairytale princess. She will also provide music for the film’s soundtrack. One has to believe, given Porter’s Tony Award-winning career, he would join the musical festivities as well.

Porter has been a dependable staple of pop culture since the mid-90s. His roles in films like The First Wives Club, shows like The Get Down, and Broadway musicals like Kinky Boots, he is indeed a multi-faceted actor. He is in the middle of an all-time high with his incredibly groundbreaking role in FX’s Pose.
Additionally, Kay Cannon, the director of Blockers, has been tapped to direct. Casting Billy Porter in the role would turn some heads. However, it could also turn out to be one of the most fun casting choices in recent memory.
