Commander Cody & The 212th Attack Battalion Rumored To Appear In ‘Kenobi’ Disney+ Series

The highly-anticipated limited series focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi is shaping up to be a gamechanger for Star Wars on Disney+. With notable characters like Darth Vader and Jar Jar Binks set for appearances in the upcoming series, fans are excited to see the franchise expand. According to a new report from Kessel Run Transmissions, longtime Kenobi-collaborators Commander Cody and the 212th Attack Battalion will have a role to play in the series as well.
First appearing in the prequel films, the 212th Legion was a military battalion that served in the Army of the Galactic Republic. The team would be placed under the command of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Marshal Commander CC-2224 AKA Cody. Additionally, the team often served alongside Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano as well in The Clone Wars. Following the defeat of General Grievous in The Revenge of the Sith, Darth Sidious contacted Commander Cody and commanded him to execute Order 66. Complying to his orders, Cody fired on Obi-Wan.

In January, the series stalled reportedly due to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy’s displeasure with the show’s script. The writer’s room underwent a series of changes in hopes of resuming production this summer. However, the pandemic made that goal extremely unlikely. Nevertheless, Ewan McGregor and showrunner Deborah Chow are still very much attached to the project. In fact, a few weeks ago, it was reported that the production of the series will begin early next year.
The Kenobi series looks to be an extremely ambitious adventure. With episodes directed by The Mandalorian veteran Deborah Chow, the series will feature a young Luke Skywalker. Additionally, McGregor teased his version of Obi-Wan Kenobi would be more like Alec Guinness’ original incarnation. The actor seems genuinely excited to reprise and expand the role in a series. Moreover, the upcoming series seems like the perfect place for the return of Darth Maul, who will reportedly appear in a number of Disney+ shows.
