Jar Jar Binks Rumored To Return In Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

Production on the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series is quickly approaching, which means new details about the show have begun to surface. One nugget that may be exciting for fans of the prequel films is the return of Jar Jar Binks.
According to MakingStarWars, early work has been begun on bringing the CGI character back to life. Jar Jar will apparently be sporting a new appearance, donning a beard to reflect where he has been since the rise of the Galactic Empire.
The show is said to focus on the legacy of the Jedi Knight and the prequels, so it makes sense Disney would include characters from those films. Jar Jar has been one of the most controversial figures in the Star Wars mythos, with many finding him to be one of the worst parts of the trilogy. Hopefully, the series will give Jar Jar the chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans.

It’s unclear if Ahmed Best, who did the motion capture work for Jar Jar, will return. Best played the role in the prequels and voiced him in all but one episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.Â
Jar Jar isn’t the only established character rumored to be appearing alongside Obi-Wan, either. A previous report claims that Disney+ is looking to cast a young Luke Skywalker for the show.
Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones, The Mandalorian) will serve as showrunner of the Obi-Wan series. In addition to starring in the series, McGregor will serve as an executive producer alongside Kennedy, Tracey Seaward, and John Swartz. Drive scribe Hossein Amini will pen the script.
