‘The Last Jedi’ Star Kelly Marie Tran Joins Hulu Anthology Series ‘Monsterland’

Within the last few days, Twitter users engaged one another in conversations about the greatness of Rian Johnson‘s 2017 film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. One of the most important characters in that film’s narrative was Rose Tico, portrayed by the multitalented Kelly Marie Tran. Up next, as first reported by Variety, the actress lands a starring role in an upcoming Hulu series titled Monsterland.
The anthology series will reportedly run for an initial eight episodes. Based on the collection os stories penned by The Visible Filth scribe Nathan Ballingrud, the show will depict a series of encounters with creatures like mermaids, fallen angels, and stage beasts that drive people to commit acts of desperation.

Tran will play a woman named Lauren in story titled Iron River, MI. Per the initial report, Lauren returns to her small-town for a wedding after decades away following the disappearance of her best friend at the age of 16. According to IMDB, Tran will join actors D. Dumebi Egbufor (April Again) and Mason Schneiderman (Law & Order: SVU) who have already been cast.
Tran last appeared on the big screen in 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker. The film concludes both her character’s storyline as well as the Skywalker Saga as a whole. Additionally, the actress will lend her voice talents to The Croods 2 and Monsters at Work.
