Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has become a household name since her turn as the Amazonian princess. Up next, the star will appear on-screen in the role in Wonder Woman 1984 in addition to Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Additionally, according to Discussing Film, Gadot is circling a starring role in an untitled spy thriller in development at Skydance Media.
American comic book writer Greg Rucka will reportedly handle the film’s script. The screenwriter is best known for his work on a litany of comic book tales including Wonder Woman, Batwoman, and Detective Comics. Most recently, Rucka wrote the screenplay for Netflix’s recent feature-length offering The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron.
Per the initial report, the untitled thriller will take inspiration from classic spy franchises like James Bond and Mission: Impossible. Moreover, sources close to the story claim the plot will include “spy vs spy” elements. No other casting information is available at this time. Skydance will handle the film’s production with Dana Goldberg and Don Granger (Gemini Man) on-board as producers. Production was reportedly scheduled to begin this summer. However, given restrictions amidst the coronavirus pandemic, it remains on hold for the time being.
Up next for Gadot is a role alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in Netflix’s action thriller, Red Notice. Additionally, the actress will appear as Irena Sendler in the humanitarian’s upcoming biopic.
