‘The Fugitive’ Remake Eyeing John David Washington & Cate Blanchett For Lead Roles

Warner Bros. is in the process of assembling the cast of Albert Hughes’ remake of The Fugitive. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the studio is eyeing actors John David Washington and Cate Blanchett for lead roles.
In November, it was announced that Hughes had signed on to helm the remake of the 1993 action classic. The original film featured Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble, the man wrongfully accused of murdering his wife. Ford’s Kimble was pursued by a team of U.S. Marshal’s led by Tommy Lee Jones’ Deputy Samuel Gerard.

Richtman revealed on his Patreon that the studio is looking to cast Washington as Kimble and Blanchett as Gerard. Both actors would be significant gets for the film, so hopefully, the studio can add them to the cast.
Washington is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Tenet alongside Robert Pattinson. Meanwhile, Blanchett recently signed on to star in Eli Roth’s Borderlands. Hughes is set to direct the movie and Erik Feig (Step Up, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Spy Who Dumped Me) will produce with Brian Tucker signed on to write.
