‘Snake-Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins’ Follow-Up In The Works

It appears that Paramount and Hasbro are very confident in their G.I. Joe solo film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the companies are planning a follow-up to Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.
Henry Golding’s first outing as the character is set for an October release, but it seems it won’t be his last. Paramount and Hasbro are moving forward with the G.I. Joe franchise and the follow-up will build on Snake Eyes. Not quite a sequel, the film will expand on the world, providing audiences a deeper look into the universe.

Seberg writers Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse will pen the script to the follow-up. The duo also did some uncredited polishing of the first film. The sequel will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura who produced Golding’s solo film and several other Hasbro properties.
It is not yet known if this film is replacing the previously announced movie focusing on G.I. Joe member Philip “Chuckles” Provost. It’s possible the latter has been pushed back in favor of Golding’s follow-up.
The new film does not currently have a director, but it’s possible Robert Schwentke will return depending on the success of the first film.
