In December, the Star Wars franchise wrapped up its Skywalker Saga. Recently, the sequel trilogy grossed over $4.4 billion worldwide and introduced the world to new stars like Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Daisy Ridley. As first reported by The Wrap, Ridley is set to make her next big move following The Rise of Skywalker in a starring role in the film adaptation of the 2016 novel The Ice Beneath Her.
Written by Swedish author Camilla Grebe, the psychological thriller follows a brilliant criminal profiler named Hanne Lagerlind-Schön brought in to help solve a murder. The story’s official synopsis details homicide detectives Peter Lindgren and Manfred Olsson as they investigate their millionaire suspect Jesper Orre. The novel features captivating twists and turns and has garnered a large cult following.
The film adaptation will be directed and produced by the minds behind Ready or Not filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella. Caitlin Parrish, best known for her work on The CW’s Supergirl, is on-board to adapt the novel into a screenplay. Additionally, the film will hail from STX following a lengthy bidding war with other movie studios.
Outside of the Star Wars films, Ridley appears in films like Peter Rabbit, Ophelia, and Murder on the Orient Express. Up next, the actress will star alongside Spider-Man star Tom Holland in Lionsgate Films’ Chaos Walking.
