It seems at any given moment, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has a hundred projects in development. His work on shows like Glee and Pose has cleared a path for LGTBQ stories to be told by people within the community. As first reported by Deadline, Murphy is developing a limited series for Netflix based on the life of fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick.
Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor will star in the series as the iconic designer. Moreover, Krysta Rodriguez, best known for her roles in Smash and Trial & Error, joins the series as the legendary actress and singer Liza Minnelli. Halston and Minelli are best friends in real-life and have contributed greatly to each other’s careers for decades.

Halston is one of the most recognizable names in the fashion industry. His work with the likes of Frist Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, and Minelli herself set him aside from the rest early on in his career. However, while details on Murphy’s upcoming series are scarce, it is believed to follow Halston as he navigates his way through New York City in the ’70s and ’80s.
Recently, McGregor has been a notable name in entertainment news. His work as the villainous Black Mask in Birds of Prey alongside Margot Robbie earned critical acclaim. Additionally, his starring role in the delayed Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ will return him to the Star Wars franchise for the first time in decades.
Furthermore, Rodriguez stars as Ms. Crumble in the Netflix comedy-drama series Daybreak. Additionally, she appeared in the role of Meg in Broadway’s Hercules. Up next for Murphy is the upcoming Netflix series Hollywood starring Darren Criss. He continues to work on his other shows like 9-1-1 and The Politician.
