Abigail Shapiro Joins ‘Doom Patrol’ Season 2 As Dorothy Spinner

Towards the end of the first season of DC Universe’s Doom Patrol, The Cheif Niles Caulder mentioned the love he has for his daughter Dorothy. However, the character debuts in name alone. As first reported by TVLine, Doom Patrol Season 2 will put a face to that name in the form of young actress Abigail Shapiro.
Along with the casting confirmation, the initial report also revealed a character description for Dorothy. “Niles loves her very much and has gone through great sacrifice to protect her, and the world, from her special abilities. Now that she is no longer hidden, Niles will go to even greater lengths to protect her.”
First appearing in the pages of DC Comics in 1988’s Doom Patrol, Vol. 2 #14, Dorothy Spinner is a powerful and mysterious entity. In fact, she possesses the ability to bring imaginary beings into and out of creation. Additionally, the character has appeared in the classic animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Moreover, Shapiro is a very young actress in Hollywood. This will be her first big role on TV after appearing a few online shorts and singing with various choirs around Florida.

The episode of Doom Patrol that explored The Cheif’s origins reveals that he fell in love with a primitive woman in the wilderness. Dorothy, their daughter, inspires Caulder to seek out and examine the events that gave the members of his team their abilities.
Recently, it was revealed that season two of Doom Patrol will stream on both DC Universe and Warner Bros’ HBO Max platform. The first season was a critical and commercial success, even coming in at number 5 on Full Circle’s Top 10 TV Shows Of 2019.
