Sinestro Will Appear In ‘Green Lantern’ HBO Max Series

Warner Bros is joining the streaming wars in a big way later this year. As announced a few months ago, HBO Max will feature a bevy of DC properties including the second season of the DC Universe’s Doom Patrol.
Additionally, the service will offer a live-action Green Lantern series from Arrowverse Executive Producer Greg Berlanti. As first revealed during the Television Critics Association press tour, that series will feature longtime DC supervillain Sinestro.

The news came straight from the mouth of Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s head of originals. Debuting within the pages of DC Comics in 1961, Sinestro is a former member of the Green Lantern Corps who goes rogue. He often appears as a Yellow Lantern, which utilizes fear rather than the Green Lantern’s willpower. The character was played by Shazam! star Mark Strong in 2011’s Ryan Reynolds-starring Green Lantern.
Aubrey expanded on this by revealing that the series will include “will span several decades and focus on the origin stories of two major Green Lanterns on Earth.” In addition to the upcoming series, former DC executive Geoff Johns is developing a Green Lantern Corps film.
