Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is quickly becoming the busiest man in all of Hollywood. In 2019 alone, the actor starred in three films: Fighting With My Family, Hobbs & Shaw, and Jumanji: The Next Level. Additionally, The Rock is set to star in Disney’s Jungle Cruise this year and DC’s Black Adam, in theaters in 2021.
However, the 10-time WWE Champion is no stranger to the small screen. His turn on HBO’s Ballers was continuously met with positive reactions from fans and critics alike. The new Chairman of NBC Entertainment Paul Telegdy announced during the Winter TCA that the network is developing a new series titled Young Rock, inspired y the life of Johnson. To no surprise, The Rock will star in the series.
The series received an immediate 11-episode order and will likely debut during NBC’s 2020-2021 season.
From the mind of former Fresh Off the Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan and Jeff Chiang (American Dad) the series will be a single-camera comedy. Johnson will also serve as an executive producer alongside his Seven Bucks Productions’ collaborators Dany and Hiram Garcia.
