Fresh off the incredible success of Frozen 2, Jonathan Groff’s next project is set. As first reported by Collider, the Broadway star will appear in Matrix 4.
Groff, who provides the voice for Kristoff in the Frozen films, is in the midst of a budding transition from stage to screen. His performance in Netflix’s Mindhunter series is praised by fans and critics alike. Previously, the actor has played Jesse St. James in Glee and King George III in the original cast of Hamilton: An American Musical. Additionally, the actor recently wrapped up a starring role in an off-broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors.
Groff’s role is currently unknown. However, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine him in a suit a la Agent Smith. He joins the ensemble cast which already includes Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett-Smith, who will reprise their roles from past Matrix films. Additional newcomers to the saga include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, & Jessica Henwick.
Lana Wachowski is also returning to write and direct the film. Warner Bros will produce and distribute the film in collaboration with Village Roadshow Pictures.
