Original Cast Of ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Set To Reprise Their Roles In Disney+ Series

During the exciting and newsworthy D23 Expo this past summer, the streaming service announced that it was bringing back a fan-favorite. Hillary Duff walked across the convention stage and announced that a sequel series to the Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire was in development. Today, it was confirmed that the show’s original cast was also on-board to return.
Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas played Lizzie’s mother, father, and brother. All three will reprise their roles in the upcoming series. The announcement was made along via Disney’s various social media platforms.
“Just like there is no Lizzie McGuire without Hilary Duff, there is no McGuire family without Hallie, Robert and Jake,” Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement. “The original series holds a special place in the hearts of so many. We can’t wait to introduce fans, both old and new, to an older, wiser, yet still perfectly imperfect Lizzie.”

The new adventure will focus on Duff as a 30-year old millennial trying to find her way in New York City. Fans of the original sitcom were glad to hear that the animated version of Lizzie is also set to reveal what the character is really thinking. The original series aired for four seasons on Disney Channel. It was about the upbringing of a teenager and her friends in the suburbs. It was the channel’s highest-rated show at one point.
Disney+ is consistently announcing new content for the forthcoming service. However, most of the new content seems to be rebooted versions of old content.
